That's Isaiah's The World Today Just Nuts "The Aftermath" from last night and I love it. I hope it works regardless but I've seen the film Morning Glory several times and I couldn't stop laughing. (Katharine Hepburn is Eva Lovelace, an aspiring actress, she gets her success during the movie but it may only be brief and she tearfully declares she's not afraid to be a Morning Glory -- a flower that blooms and dies.)
Remember Barack's promise to get us out of the ditch? And my pointing out that if it takes two years for you to get my car out of the ditch, you're really not helping me. (And thank you to C.I. and everyone else who voted that "Truest statement of the week II" at Third.) Well there's something I saw that goes with that in a way. This is from Howard Kurtz (Daily Beast):
Two years later, the man who roused crowds in outdoor stadium with soaring rhetoric had somehow been reduced to a mechanic-in-chief, working on that car that never seems to get out of the ditch.
Okay, maybe he is the mechanic-in-chief but, unless you're married to a mechanic, I think you're aware that there are a lot of shady ones out there who don't do a thing to help you -- but will take your money. The first time my oldest daughter had car problems? I had to tell my husband, "Calm down."
She had car problems and she took it to a mechanic by the mall. Among other things, he charged her $50 for anti-freeze. My husband was furious. I was as well. But I was clear about who I was furious with while my husband was just exploding and our daughter thought he was mad at her. So after he calmed down, he explained she was ripped off. The two of them went back to the place and he got the fifty dollars back and a reduction on the hose and clamp (radiator hose was replaced for which she was charged over $150 originally -- and to be really clear, this was money our daughter paid, her money -- my husband was only ticked off that his daughter got ripped off, this wasn't a 'Now we have to pay for this!!!')
This is C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot" for Thursday:
