Barbie's carrying case
Sunday, Kat's "Kat's Korner: Falling in (and out of) love with M. Ward" and you need to read that.
I'm trying to hunt down a Barbie case. My granddaughter saw one that her friend 'has.' (Her friend doesn't have it. It's her friend's mother's Barbie case. She's not allowed to play with it.)
I remember it from my high school years (babysitting -- I was over Barbie then). It's pink (but color doesn't matter) and you've got space for two or three dolls on one side. On the other this vinyl covered board folds out (lays flat on the ground) and has beds drawn on it and you've got a closet to hang clothes in.
She is in love with it. And she's not even a Barbie girl.
She hasn't asked for it. But she keeps telling everyone about it. It just blew her mind.
So I've spent four hours tonight trying to hunt it down. It's not the 1968 or 1970 cases. I know because I've found those. I'll keep looking. If you know of one, let me know. If I don't find one by the end of the week, I may look for a Barbie house. Maybe she'd like that if I can't get the case.
Anyway, it's been all Barbie's nonstop tonight. So nothing else is on my mind. Sorry.
Oh, one more thing.
How stupid is Mattel?
These Barbie cases -- torn up -- are going for big bucks.
But what do they offer new (Mattel) today? This hard plastic cube with nothing in it, no pretend beds or closets or anything.
Seems to me if my old stuff was selling for huge bucks, I'd put out some newer versions of it with the assumption that the new versions would sell today as well.
This is C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot" for Monday:
