Isaiah's The World Today Just Nuts "State of the Union" and Barack delivers the State of the Union speech tomorrow night.
And my plan was to write about what the speech might have and what it might have to do with the economy.
I've trashed that plan.
A reader e-mailed. She reads for the economy talk and her partner reads for the recipes and the economy talk. They're a same-sex couple.
Last week, I wrote "Gloria Feldt plays sexist" and she wanted to weigh in. So this is her e-mail and she didn't give permission to be named so I'm not naming her.
When Gloria Feldt accused Sarah Palin of acting masculine, it was the typical bull crap that so many of us have had to put up with from feminists like Feldt who seem to really struggle not only with letting go of gender stereotypes but also with embracing lesbians.
My partner would be considered the dainty one and the pretty one. I do not "act" butch. I am who I am and I had to spend the first 25 years of my life coming to grips with that. Not an easy thing to do when you're a young woman in the south in the seventies from a religious family.
In so many ways, society has matured ad we've gotten smarter as people. But then along comes Gloria Feldt to enforce gender stereotypes and pass judgments on those who digress from her path and I'm awash again in all the hatred I've had aimed at me over the years.
I don't forgive her, I don't forgive Women's Media Center.
They have both made it very clear there is no room for lesbians in their movement.
She goes on to note real feminists and to say some kind words about me that I really don't deserve.
But I thank her so much for sharing her story and she is very much a part of the feminist movement and our world. It's really a shame that a 'name' feminist like Gloria Feldt would be so consumed with hatred for Sarah Palin that she'd launch a broadside attack that would hurt the feelings of other women. But that is what Gloria Feldt did.
This is C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot" for Monday:
