Ava jumping into Trina's space because I'm pissed. POLITICO has a report about Barack learning about Latin issues effecting the Hispanic community. I happen to like Eva Longoria, she's a very sweet woman. America Ferrera as well. But look at the list which also includes: Rosario Dawson, Gloria Estefen's husband, etc.
I am not qualified to speak to the issues of average Latinos and Latinas. I'm not struggling. I'm financially independent.
I am a Latina, my family is Latin. But in terms of many of the most pressing issues -- such as immigration -- I am not an expert. I can offer opinions the same as anyone else. But I am not an expert.
I have not devoted my life to working for an organization that addresses the issues nor did I personally experience them.
The same is true of the people above. Gloria Estefen's husband's been a millionaire since she hit the pop charts in the mid-80s. This was nothing but a photo-op. I like Eva but am not at all surprised she took part. I like America but am deeply saddened that she did because she knows better.
These men and women better get that the Latin community around the country is pissed off about his last meet-up which avoided including serious organizations on the immigration issue. Now Barack again bypasses these organizations and invites a lot of wealthy and famous people to 'discuss'? It's not going to play well. Nor should it. And shame on anyone who whores for Barack. Community before empty suits.
And here's C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot" for Thursday:
