Cucumber Onion Salad in the Kitchen

doormat

That's Isaiah's THE WORLD TODAY JUST NUTS "Junior Moves Into His New Office" went up a bit ago.

Thanksgiving will be upon us shortly.  A few of you are asking if you missed the deadline?  You may have, I honestly don't remember if it was last week or not.  I'm not big on posting new recipes right before a holiday because I really think you need to do a test run if it's for others.  A bad dish doesn't ruin a holiday for others but it can leave you feeling defeated. Brenda notes The Cookie Rookie's Cucumber Onion Salad:

2 cucumbers
1 red onion sliced
⅓ cup apple cider vinegar
¼ cup water
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon fine sea salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Slice each cucumber in ¼-inch slices and add to a large bowl.
2 cucumbers
Add in the sliced red onion (sliced into half moons) and toss to combine.
1 red onion
In a mason jar or small bowl, whisk together the apple cider vinegar, water, sugar, salt, and pepper.
⅓ cup apple cider vinegar,¼ cup water,1 tablespoon granulated sugar,1 teaspoon fine sea salt,1 teaspoon ground black pepper
Pour the dressing mixture over the cucumber and onion and toss to fully coat/combine.
Keep in the fridge until ready to serve.

An elderly Christian nationalist televangelist has said there will be “no more rainbow flags” now that Donald Trump has won re-election.

In a recording of his Sunday sermon following Election Day, 87-year-old Kenneth Copeland said, “I believe it’s here right now, the [Christian spiritual] awakening we’ve been waiting for…. Now the atmosphere has been cleansed…. No more rainbow flags. No more.” An audience member can be heard exclaiming, “Thank you, Jesus!” in response.

They are disgusting and they will burn in hell.  This is not where we are as a people.  I'm Catholic and we don't believe that garbage.

These people aren't Christians.  They're hateful souls who will burn in hell for their efforts to bully and harm others.

This is C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot" for Tuesday:

Tuesday, November 12, 2024.  Hiding behind his late life marriage and late life fatherhood Seth Moulton wants to kick others down, Trump's usurping the Senate, Black women are still being shut out of the conversation, and much more.

Let's start with big 'manly' Seth Moulton, a member of the US House of Representative and a long term contestant in WHAT'S MY SEXUALITY?  Some argue he settled that question in 2017 when, at the age of 38, he finally found a woman to marry.  But most of us said at the time, "Well he is planning to run for president in 2020."  And he did.  No one wanted him, but he did run.

He launched his attack on trans people last week.  That could provide cover for his being gay -- if he was.  At least for some people who don't grasp that he could be -- he certainly acts like one -- one of those big puffy chest conservative gay men who insult and trash trans men and women.  Here's what Seth said and I'll respond every sentence or so.

I mean, here we are accusing Republicans of being weird and we're the ones who are suddenly requiring people to put pronouns in their email signatures

What's weird about that?  It's perfectly normal and even more so if your name is Taylor or Drew or Bailey or Morgan or Alex or . . .  Get the point, stupid?  Even someone as stupid as you has to grasp that a man named Alex Smith doesn't want to be called "Ms Smith."  Even you, you overgrown fat ass, has to grasp that, right.

As for "requiring"?  There's no law.  Which means it would be the company you work for making the requirement.  Companies making requirements of their employees!!!!!  OH my goodness, whoever heard of that happening.

I mean, that's kind of weird, to be honest.  You know, we went through the whole gay rights movement.

Did you now?  Do tell?  And where did you lose your Pride virginity, big boy?  I don't know about the rest of America but I guess I picture Seth on his knees, in a men's room, working the glory hole.

We went through the whole Civil Rights Movement.  We never had to say "Seth Moulton: Straight" or Seth Moulton: "White."

Seth, I would be greatly surprised -- as someone who's met you and spoken with you -- if you ever, once in your life, introduced yourself as "Seth Moulton: Straight."  But if you do, I pray that you will record it on your phone and then post it online because I could really use a good laugh.

You didn't go through the Civil Rights Movement, it's before your time. But actually, there were people passing and they did tend to get called out.  You wouldn't know that because you're Big Stupid -- that's what the men who served with you called you, "Big Stupid."  They called you other names too but let me bite my tongue.

And all of a sudden, we have to change all our values to meet the needs or demands of one very small minority group.

Saying he or she or they makes you change all your values?  What values are those?  Your refusal to adapt to growing society don't speak well for your post-marriage scenes.  Maybe they'll forgive you if you do pig play?

So I think we just have to be able to have a real discussion about this.

The nation's been having that conversation for years now.  Where were you?  At the bathhouse?

Or maybe you were in hiding, trying to avoid questions about how you, the successful businessman, actually ran Eastern Healthcare Partners into the ground.

Hey, you know what, let's talk about that?  Yeah, why don't you finally answer to that?  Oh, rushing off already.  Well give him my love, tell him I say "Hi!"

WIKIPEDIA notes:

Following Kamala Harris's loss in the presidential election, he expressed opposition to transgender participation in girls' sports, saying that he does not want his daughters "getting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete."[87] Following his remarks, his campaign manager resigned in protest, his comments were condemned by Salem mayor Dominick Pangallo and he faced protest from constituents.[88] In an MSNBC interview, he refused to apologize and claimed the backlash "[proved] his point".[89]

Got to work those two daughters in -- but no gay panic, you understand.  I've made this point before -- many times -- but I'll make it again.  People like Seth don't appear bothered by transgender athletes.  They're bothered by male to female trans kids.  When a female to male trans kid plays sports -- which is honestly what I've always seen much more of -- these same people like Seth don't give a damn and don't care about it.  But aren't they fixed on 'protecting' girls (cis girls) -- Seth's kind of like Donald Trump, he's going to protect them whether they want it or not.

Speaking of whether they want it or not . . . Maureen Dowd's always struggled as a columnist.  Always.  Facts are hard for MoDo. She's now signed off with Seth in her latest column so it's a good time to point out that the 72-year-old needs to be put out to pasture.  That should apply to many columnists getting paid for a job that someone younger could be doing.  But it especially applies to Maureen who's always tried to fudge the facts by falling back on pop culture references.  At 72, she's really outlived that and it's time for some new blood.  72?  What am I saying, she's 73 in January.  Get her a gold watch and show her where the exit door is.

She's got a massive ego on her, Dowd, and she thought aligning herself with Sue Mengers was the way to go as the '00s wound down.  It only made it clear to those of us in the entertainment community that Dowd was dead.  She's had no real importance or traction since then.  Nor could she.  She is, in fact, as dead as any film on Sue.  Remember that?  Sue was going to have a big comeback.  So sorry.  Sue's racism was popular in the seventies but those of us who weren't racist ensured that she never had a comeback -- not in the 80s or the 90s or the '00s when Maureen (and Tina Fey) tried to adopt her.  Yes, Bette Midler did star in that play.  And, yes, the lie was that the play was a hit -- or some tried to pretend it was a hit.

It was a one act play with only one character so I'm sure it broke even.  But hit plays?  They don't run less than three months.  Bette also starred in HELLO DOLLY which was a hit -- 550 performances.

Every now and then another actress gets attached to an 'upcoming' film about Mengers.  But, again, she was a racist and the project tends to hit a wall when that reality pops up.  For example?  Diana Ross was her client.  Diana was dating Ryan O'Neal -- another Sue client.  And one film after another that Diana was supposed to be the lead in would get recast with a White actress.  Black people learned early on that the ultimate star f**ker Sue Mengers would f**k them over.  But I am so very glad that Tina Fey (does 30 ROCK exist without all that racist humor -- excuse me, 'post racist' racist humor?) and Maureen Dowd were able to sit besides Sue Mengers on her throne.  My only question?  Did Sue provide them with  white sheets to wear or did they bring their own?

Need another tidbit?  Sue spent decades whining that her 'best friend' Barbra Streisand left her and how that destroyed her and upset her.  Barbra had already heard Sue trash everyone else (trash them to Barbra).  Some might have been tickled.  A) Barbra's not big on gossip and B) when speaking with her manager, Barbra expected the focus to be on her career.  But Barbra began to wonder did Sue trash her to Candy Bergen or Ali MacGraw or any of the others that Sue always trashed to Barbra.  Barbra decided to trust her with a big secret (that was made up) to see if it got out.  It did.  Barbra had her answer and fired Sue.  And then Sue began whining.  I believe this part is in Barbra's book -- the part I'm about to note -- it was in an early version so my apologies if it didn't make it into the book.  Barbra told Sue they could be friends and Sue screamed that why would she be friends with Barbra if Barbra wouldn't stay on as her client?  So Sue's drama over Barbra leaving was always one big lie -- just like everything else about Sue.  Except her feet.  Her feet did stink and she ruined many a party by kicking her shoes off.

Donald Trump is the Sue Mengers of the federal government.  He's already destroying himself before he gets sworn in.  Last time it was the CIA.  This time it's Republicans in the US Senate.

From ALL ABOUT EVE -- Bette Davis played Margo,  Thelma Reed played Birdie.  It's after a performance and Margo's assistant Eve (Anne Baxter) has picked up the costume and headed off from the dressing room.

Birdie:  May I be so bold as to say something?  Have you ever heard of the word "union"?

Margo:  Behind in your dues? How much?

Birdie:  I haven't got a union. I'm slave labor.

Margo:  Well?

Birdie:  But the wardrobe women have got one and, next to a tenor, a wardrobe woman is the touchiest thing in show business.

Margo:  Oh, oh.

Birdie: She's got two things to do:  carry clothes and press 'em wrong.  And don't let anybody try to muscle in.

You know what's touchier than a wardrobe woman?  A sitting US senator.

After 17 years in the hot seat, McConnell is expected to exit his post at the top of Senate Republican leadership on Wednesday, ending his run as the longest serving Senate party leader in U.S. history.

At the top of the billing to replace the 82-year-old are South Dakota Senator John Thune and Texas Senator John Cornyn, two establishment conservatives and longtime McConnell allies who have not always seen eye to eye with the president-elect.

Meanwhile, a gamut of Trump’s key allies, including Elon Musk, Tucker Carlson, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Vivek Ramaswamy, and Charlie Kirk, are aggressively lobbying for Florida Senator Rick Scott to take the helm. (Trump, notably, has so far avoided endorsing any of the contenders.) But the overzealous pressure campaign—which is also being pushed along by some far-right social media influencers and their harassment tactics—is on the verge of combusting, according to Politico.

That’s because most of the Senate Republican conference won’t have to face reelection until 2028 or later. On top of that, the vote is by secret ballot, ensuring that no one—from their constituents to MAGA’s top brass—will know if they voted for or against Trump’s candidate.
“Senators do not take kindly to having an army of social media trolls attack them,” one unnamed aide told Politico on Sunday, noting that the effort was only “pissing off senators whose votes Rick needs” to win.

And sitting US senators do not take kindly to anyone outside the Senate -- that includes a president -- attempting to tell them what to do.  Now pair that with Kaia Hubbard (CBS NEWS) reporting:

As Senate Republicans prepare to vote Wednesday on new leadership for the upcoming Congress, President-elect Donald Trump is already weighing in with demands for the new majority leader regarding his Cabinet

After a decisive victory in the 2024 elections, Trump is returning to the White House with a GOP-led Senate at his side. Senate Republican leaders are expected to ease the way for the president-elect's agenda and his Cabinet and judicial nominees. Trump has made it clear that he'd like his nominees to be installed immediately, suggesting that he may want the option to bypass the Senate's advice and consent role entirely.

Please  note, that would be the Constitutionally assigned role of advice and consent.   For the ignorant -- like Donald Trump -- let's not the Constitution:

Article II, Section 2, Clause 2:

He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.

When the most recent US senators were sworn in back in January of 2023 -- two years ago -- the median age was 65.3 years.

Wait.  We have MAGA drive bys and you know they were homeschooled so let me explain median.   Think of it as the midpoint.  So half the US Senate, in 2023, was composed of senators under the age of 65.3 and half was composed of senators over the age of 65.3 -- 65.3 is the mid point.

And US senators are very territorial.  And that's before you get to over half being over 65.  So he wants to bypass them on advice and consent and he wants to be able to determine who will be the next Majority Leader -- something the Senate traditionally does all by itself.

Pushy and stupid, that's Donald Trump.

A Senate campaign?  That's much more difficult than a House campaign (except in Alaska which has two senators and one member of the House of Representatives).  They work very hard in those runs -- or at least hard for them -- and it being the upper house and it being a six year term, they tend to think they know better than others -- and that's before you factor in the issue of incumbency.

US senators do not like to be pushed around or talked to like their children.  But there goes the idiot Trump antagonizing the Senate -- Republicans and Democrats -- before he even gets into the White House.

Where's the popcorn, right?

I went to COMMON DREAMS before I started dictating this snapshot and had a good, long laugh.  Independent 'left' media trashed Kamala Harris day after day -- depressing and suppressing the vote.  Month after month after month.  COMMON DREAMS was one of those and they were the only one that we publicly called out who took a look at it and changed course.

That's the only reason I look at COMMON DREAMS now.  I will note something from them if I think it helps this community.  Others, I'm done with.  But I do actively seek out stuff to note from COMMON DREAMS.

So I go there this morning and I can't stop laughing.

Where's the Jill Stein coverage?  Remember Jill was so damn important and independent media had to pimp her like crazy.

There's not one story about the 'hero' Jill Stein today.

Headline after headline of panic.  Joe needs to do this or that before he leaves office!  This needs to happen!  57 groups call on the White House!  Over and over.

I applaud you for taking a look at your coverage before the campaign concluded; however, don't you get now why you should have dropped that s**t?

We didn't need Norman Solomon sharing how he was voting for Jill Stein, did we?

No, we didn't.

If you could go back in time now, do you really think you would still publish those multiple attacks on Kamala Harris that COMMON DREAMS had each day?

This was a serious election.  Much was at stake.

But they didn't care.  THE NATION, THE PROGRESSIVE, IN THESE TIMES, DEMOCRACY NOW!, etc.  They saw their purpose in ripping apart Kamala every day.

And now they're all shocked by what Trump's going to do.

You should have been paying attention in real time.  You should have been focused on your own damn country.  Your neighbor needs the lawn mowed?  Fine.  Take care of your own yard and then you can go help.  But you take care of your own yard first.

I saw the COMMON DREAMS story about student's protesting Trump already.  I had to wonder?  How much force will greet their actions when Trump's sworn in?

I have to wonder all the lying Gaza Freak whores who misled young people on what was possible and who directed all the anger at Joe Biden and Kamala Harris -- not at the ICC, not at the United Nations, not at this, not at that -- are going to feel as immigrants are deported.  As this country crumbles, I have to wonder.

Today, we look back at Nazi Germany and wonder how?  How did it happen?

Our own Hitler happened because Katrina vanden Heuvel, Amy Goodman and others worked overtime to attack the only possible alternative to Donald Trump and to attack her day after day, every day in the three month lead up to the election.

That's why we're here now.

If the official figures are correct, we didn't turn out.  Not just in enough numbers, we didn't turn out in the numbers we did in 2020.

We were discouraged from voting and that's the message beggar media put out -- remember that when they ask you to donate next.  They have destroyed our country.  There are people waking up in fear every day now.

And we don't need to hear Seth -- in the midst of his homosexual panic -- trashing transgender people -- voters who overwhelmingly showed up and voted for Kamala.

We don't need it.

Let me note again, that there are all these roundtables taking place -- THE DAILY BEAST just posted one with Samantha Bee as a co-host.

How stupid are they?  How stupid do they think we are?

Black women were shut out during the campaign by the media and that's still the case when the so-called experts want to talk about what happened and what we do next.

Black women?  Vote for Democrats.  We won't give you a say, we won't listen to you.  And when one of you runs for office, we won't call out DEMOCRACY NOW! or any other left platform that trashes the Black candidate every day.  We'll look the other way.

That's what it says.

News?  KEOR reports:

State Superintendent Ryan Walters issued a memo on Thursday addressing the dismantling of the U.S. Department of Education proposed by President-elect Donald Trump.

In the memo, Walters outlines five areas that he says would restore authority to the states if the U.S. Department of Education is eliminated: Championing parents’ rights, ending social indoctrination in classrooms, protecting patriotism in curriculum, stopping illegal immigration’s impact on schools, and blocking foreign influence in our schools.

“I look forward to working hand in hand with the Trump Administration to help dismantle the decades of damage the fed govt has inflicted on public education,” Walters said in an “X” post on Thursday afternoon.

Hope the fundamentalists in Dearborn and Hamtrack are happy.  They probably are for right now.  They'd already teamed with Republicans in 2022 to attack schools and school libraries.  They bonded over homophobia.  So screw them.  And don't come to me for assistance, help or pity.  Immigration has always been a huge issue for me (I'm Catholic) and I've long worked with my Church on this issue.  Fundamentalists Muslims in Dearborn and Hamtrack decided not to vote for Kamala.  They didn't care about the harm they did.  They didn't care about anyone else but themselves.

Selfish is ugly.  Now you're going to find out just how ugly it is over the next four years.  You created this mess and none of us are going to forget it.  Ever.

By the way, Seth Moulton better pray that his sucking up wins him an appointment in the Trump administration because I have family in his area who vote.  Boston wouldn't stand for the crap he just pulled.  But neither will Bedford or Danvers.

This is C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot" for Monday:

Monday, November 11, 2024.  He didn't endorse Kamala, he didn't vote for her but he thinks he can now go on MSNBC and make demands from Democrats?  Oh, hell no.

We don't link to trash so forget the garbage interview that Ayman Mohyeldin did with the Mayor of Homophobia Abullah Hammoud.  Abdullah -- who wants to be something more than a mayor but, sadly, never will be.

MSNBC, we don't need to hear from Abdullah and we don't want to hear from him.  If he's got time to jaw bone, he's got time to address his city's homophobia.

Idiot Ayman tries to put force together contrary facts and pretend that they fit.  They don't.  Nor do you.

Please note, Black women, that MSNBC can't bring you on for a serious panel about racism -- in the media coverage of the election, in the campaign that Trump ran or anything.  But the mayor of a city that has gone homophobic under his watch is someone to celebrate.

We'll he's a man, isn't he.  And in the end, isn't that always the most defining qualification for the All Things Media Big and Small when they're inviting guests on.

And I don't want to hear a damn thing about what the US needs to do with regards to Gaza.

Anyone who wanted the Democratic Party to address Gaza?  They should have voted for the Democrats.

Instead, a nation of idiots voted against their own interest and have given control to the Republicans.

So go beg Donald.  Go beg him.  He's your president and he's the one you wanted.  So get on your knees, crawl like the dogs you have made yourselves into by refusing to vote for the alternative go Donald and beg.

No, no, no.  You don't get to come to the Democratic Party now.  Not after you tanked the Democratic Party's chances to be in the White House.

Was it too much for your macho fundamentalist Muslim beliefs to have a woman in the White House?

I don't know.  And at this point I don't care.

Here's what I had planned to do today.  Note Gaza.  We were going to seriously address the ongoing genocide.  And then I get all telling me about that interview.  And how the host and the guest want to make demands on the Democratic Party.  After failing to turn out votes?

Ayman, you're going to have a seriously interesting day because you pissed off above me and your boss' boss will be hearing about your stunt.

As for the mayor?

How dare you make demands on a party you just stabbed in the back.

You know, I can make the case for the Israeli government.  I can do that. Whether debate or moot court, I had to make a lot of arguments I didn't believe in.  So I could make the case for the Israeli government and you piss me off enough?  I will do it.  And it will further crater support for Gaza.

So stop you're lying.  Just stop lying.  Stop your demands of what 'we' have to do.  What we, in America, had to do was save our country.

You didn't give a s**t about that, Abdullah Hammoud. No, your last interview had to talking the importance of Palestinians and then the importance that you serve your city.

No where in there .-- and I hope your opponent will make much of this in your next race -- did you ever talk about anything you owed your country or the people in it.

So just take your single-issue on home because no one's buying your lies except the idiots you already had on the hook.

Again, the plan was to address Gaza.  Many more pieces of s**t like Abdullah showing up in the media telling us what to do?  I'll bury them and their argument

Grasp that we, Democrats, wanted Abdullah and others to vote for Kamala.  They didn't want to do that.  We wanted it to save our country.  They didn't care.

But now, not even seven days after the election, Abdullah thinks he can go on television and make demands about what Democrats should do.

F**k you.  Truly.  Servant of god Abdullah (that's what the name means), you weren't serving anyone when you helped elect Donald Trump.  You weren't using your head either.  But you picked a butcher to put into the White House.  So go beg your butcher, your man.  And see how it works out because, I don't think it's going to.

Then take your ass home back to other rejects and bathe in the blood of the dead that your actions are responsible for.

People in Dearborn feel betrayed?  The country was betrayed by Dearborn.  Nobody needs to hear from you.  Kamala promised to be a leader for everyone, I didn't.

"My only family -- sob sob sob -- unsubscribed from me."  Good.  Everyone should.  You're trash.

As Brett Meiselas points out after going over the various Trump voting expressing regrets now, you can't vote against human rights and expect that your family -- impacted by your vote -- won't respond.

"They sold out their family for a carton of eggs," Tennessee Brando points out below.

And that is correct.

Let's stay with social media for a moment.

Some of us gave money to Trump, some of us on the left.  That's me.  I'm not pointing at others and acting like I didn't do the same thing.

How did we give money to Trump?

By using Twitter.  By enriching Elon Musk in any way or manner.

On Friday, in the post-mortem (the first of three, actually) with other big donors we began the discussion on what worked and what didn't.  And Twitter came up.

Elon Musk is not our friend.  Do I need to do screen grabs from Twitter of the various MAGA trash using the N-word and putting up photos of Black men on their knees in front of White men?

Those pictures by the way?  It's porn.  It's from pornography.  And it's from gay pornography.  Got it.  They pretend they're straight but they clearly consumer a lot of 'raceplay' pornography.

Ted Cruz was never concerned about that, was he?  He's not limiting porn on Twitter -- because I said photos, let me clear that some aren't photos, some are videos.

This is what Twitter does.  It promotes hate.  And it enriches Elon Musk.

And it defeats us.  As a people, it defeats us.

That's THREADS.  No, Zuckerberg is not a saint.

But we're not idiots in Dearborn, are we?  No, we're able to look at two things and see the one is awful.  We did that when choosing between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.  By the same token, we can look at Zuckerberg and Musk and clearly conclude that Elon Musk is a threat to democracy and we don't need to be giving him our money or time.

I'm not asking for a big lift here.

A big lift?  That would be asking people to give up AMAZON due to Jeff Bezos actions.

This isn't a big lift.  This is asking that those of you who can consider migrating over to THREADS and abandoning TWITTER.

THREADS currently has an estimated 200 million users.  TWITTER -- I don't work for Elon, I don't have to use his new name for the company -- is estimated to have 600 million users -- though the internal stats I studied Saturday make clear that only a little over 320 million of that 600 have Tweeted in the last six months.

So let's do our part for our democracy by telling Mr Racist from South Africa that we're not going to help him anymore.  It's free labor, grasp that.  Free labor for Elon.  It's time for us to reject him that same way the wise Black people in South Africa did.  Aparethied was falling and he and hideous family suddenly needed to leave.

And let's focus on what we can do.  I'm dictating these snapshot -- I dictate them while I work out in the morning -- so I'll be basing it on the feedback I get from this community, on what people in my life that I respect advise and on my own thoughts.

If something I propose does not work for you, I get it.  Don't think twice about it. That's true on TWITTER.  I'd like to see us all leave but that might not happen.  If you're able to, please consider doing so.

This snapshot is where I'm at right now.  Others are still mourning and I respect that and I honor it.  This is not my, "Get over it and get to work!" You deal with what you need to.  You process and you determine when you come back to any activism and whether or not you even do that.

We were sold out and betrayed and I don't expect anyone to just get over that.

Two videos.   Karen Hunter and Roland Martin.

Bernie is not our leader.  And outlets who mistake his own coded language -- intentional or not -- and overlook the reality of his positions (he's very build a wall when it comes to economics -- or did no one ever tell you), better expect that you're going to lose a lot of people.  He may be your Messiah but for a lot of us, he's just another old White man trying to keep us down.

An e-mail yesterday to the public e-mail account was from a drive-by who is so upset that they didn't read the following before the election:

  • Don't give a dime to the racist NATION magazine
  • Media: The election winds down
  • Media: The double standard
  • Media: Are they trying to elect Donald Trump?
  • Media: Abusers Donald and JD fit the pattern
  • Media: The damage done by Dave Zirin and The Gaza ...
  • The death of corporate media has been widely misre...
  • Media: Broadcast TV and Jill Stein -- two things t...
  • Media: Hard Truths and Soft Media
  • Media: The stupid on the right and the stupid on t...
  • Media: They don't know any better
  • Media: The embarrassments of the 2024 presidential...
  • Media: We usually get our twists and turns from TV

  • Why or why didn't he read it before he voted.  He's a Gaza Freak.  He now regrets his protest against Kamala.  You know what, it's really too late at this point.  He also wishes he'd seen any of the above sooner and wants to know why I didn't promote it on social media?

Oh, I'm sorry.  Let's dock my pay for a week -- Oh, wait.  I don't ask for money on any of this.  Never have, never will.  It's not my fault that you didn't stumble on it before, somehow you managed to after.

Missing what Ava and I wrote is not your excuse or justification for not voting for Kamala.  There were other people -- many, many people -- especially Black women -- all over the net addressing the topics we covered and similar topics.  If you're serious in your e-mail, then what you need to do is expand on who you follow.  Most of your news content and public affairs content is exclusively White.  Try working on that in 2024 and see if you can't expand your mind.

    White Bean and Tuna Salad

    beauty barron

That's Isaiah's THE WORLD TODAY JUST NUTS  "Manly Barron" and I do wonder, when I see photos of the spawn of Satan and note that rosy cheeks, is it natural or is it make up because it really does look like make up.  It really does.

Olivia notes Simply Recipes' White Bean and Tuna Salad recipe:

    White Bean and Tuna Salad
    Ingredients
1 cup chopped red onions or shallots
The zest and juice of 1 lemon or 2 limes (can sub a tablespoon or two of cider vinegar)
2 (5- to 6-ounce) cans tuna packed in olive oil
2 (15-ounce) cans cannellini or Great Northern white beans, rinsed and drained
1/2 cup (loosely packed) chopped parsley or arugula, or 2 tablespoons thinly sliced mint
A few splashes Tabasco sauce, or 1 minced Serrano chili or 1 teaspoon red chili flakes
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Salt and more extra virgin olive oil, to taste

    Directions
Sprinkle some of the lemon juice over the chopped onions:
Sprinkle the lemon while you prepare the other ingredients. This will take some of the oniony edge off the onions. Combine the ingredients in a bowl:
Drain the oil from the tuna and put the tuna into a large bowl. Add the beans to the tuna and gently stir to combine.
Add the onions, herbs, black pepper, lemon zest and lemon juice and mix to combine. Add Tabasco or chili to taste.
If the salad needs more acid, add a little more lemon juice. If the salad seems a little dry, add a little bit of extra virgin olive oil. Add salt to taste.
Chill before serving: This salad will last several days in the fridge, tightly covered.

This is C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot" for Friday:

Friday, November 8, 2024.  As the election gets analyzed, are we not supposed to notice that Black women aren't getting a seat at the table?

A lot of opinions flying around.  A lot of nonsense going down.

When I was in high school, there was a boy a class ahead of me.  Seemed nice enough.  But then people began picking on him because he was gay.  And he was gay.  Not someone who reads gay but isn't.  Not a Jon Cryer mistaken for gay but actually gay.  And his daily life suddenly became miserable.  And if you looked at what was going on, it was obvious -- or it was obvious to me -- that a guy named David, a quarterback, had started and was leading the attack on Charles.  And if you paid attention, it should have been obvious that David might not read gay because he didn't fit someone's stereotype but he was gay and had been screwing around with Charles.  Fear or whatever drew him deeper into the clost and he now attacked Charles constantly.

I went to David and told him it needed to stop.  And to stop now.

He justified picking on Charles as just having fun -- it wasn't fun for Charles.

I told him I knew they'd been having sex and that he could end the abuse of Charles or I could end him.

He didn't think he could be taken down -- call him Trump-like in his stupidity.

But it only took a week and half and I destroyed him.

    And I'd do it again.

I have said repeatedly here than I am not a nice person.

I didn't destroy him by outing him.  I destroyed him by destroying everything he thought he had -- standing, sex appeal, wealth, go down the list.

And he tried to kill himself-- well he staged a drama I don't think you inject some medicine for cows into yourself if you're really determined to kill yourself.

    I didn't -- and don't -- feel bad.

And his attempt to garner sympathy only made him a bigger joke -- and led to others mocking him in the halls with "MOO!" whenever they'd see him.

He was supposed to be all that.  Good looking.  Sone of a banker blah blah blah.

And he didn't realize that he wasn't untouchable.

Now I bring that up to note, obviously, that Trump's not untouchable and it can be an interesting four years.

But I also bring it up because that's really the first political cause for me.  One that required leaving my own bubble and seeing others in need that didn't look like me or weren't like me in some way.  Our only bond was that he was hurting and I felt for him.

If you want to count the work I do for autism, that predates that but I had a member of the family who was autistic.

Before Charles, I never knew anyone who was gay.  Never even thought about it.

But seeing this nice kid crying every day as he couldn't get down the hall without facing the mockery David had created -- to hide his own sexuality -- that was probably my adult realization of a number of things.

I have a good life today because I have had an enthusiastic following and a good number of those are gay men.

I say all of that to explain that I'm not walking out on them.  I'm not silencing myself while they get attacked.

Right now, a large number of us are figuring out where we stand going forward.

The LGBTQ+ community has my support and I will loudly defend them.

Others? Some of you are probably going to be on your own -- because you brought it on yourselves.  If some beggar media type gets tossed in jail, I don't know that I care.  If you trashed Kamala, I don't know that I care about you.

But that's what I'm going to be figuring out.  For me.

And that's what the rest of us are going to have to figure out.

I posted Chris Hayes' video last night or this morning.  I like Chris.  I don't have a problem with what he said.  And I get that people want to feel hopeful.

But I also get "For me."

I can be decided for me.  And others can and should decide for themselves.

But MSNBC really isn't recognizing that.  Chris would be a great person to do some roundtables with Black women.

When Tabitha does a new video (TABITHA SPEAKS), I'm right there.  And I love what she says.  And she'll figure out for herself what she wants to do going forward.  She doesn't need a White man telling her what to do.  To be clear, that's not a reference to Chris Hayes -- whose biggest 'crime' would be trying to give us all hope.  And that's why I would argue Chris could do these needed roundtable.

I don't want to talk about Howard Dean -- we hate each other and he tried to throw me under the bus in the first Barack Obama administration.  So let's not really focus on his garbage other than to note that in 2008 he stood back while sexism was targeted non-stop at Hillary Clinton.  And he was the DNC chair.  So right there, grasp that no one needs to hear Howard The Scream Dean.

But there are a number of others that we could talk about.  They're making idiotic and stupid analysis and trying to impose it on us.

Let's deal wit the Jill Stein freaks.

They offer the poplar vote that Jill got nationwide and insist that it wouldn't have made a difference to Kamala.  But we don't elect by the popular vote.  Our president depends upon who won the electoral college.  They also want to lie that Jill didn't steal any votes from Kamala.

Despite the many lies Jill told, she always knew that she wasn't going to win.  Even she isn't stupid enough to think she would have won.

Her role was not to garner votes and I'll try to come back to a sub-set there but I want to make this point very clear.

Jill got support from Donald Trump and his MAGA attorneys because she was supposed to suppress turnout.  No one thought she'd garner votes.

But what she could do was suppress votes.

    And that's what she did.

She attacked Kamala from the left.  She ripped into her daily.

She and Beggar Media did everything to attack Kamala.  (Beggar media, if you're a drive-by, is DEMOCRACY NOW!, THE NATION, THE PROGRESSIVE, IN THESE TIMES, etc.  Useless liars who turn their tricks without ever satisfying a customer which is why they get the cash upfront.  Gaza Freaks refers not to people defending Palestinians nor to the Palestinians themselves.  It refers to the useless idiots who do nothing to actually help the people of Gaza or to end a genocide.  If you wanted to end a genocide, you wouldn't have worked so hard to elect Donald Trump.)

Let's do a quick walk through.  Will use racist Amy Goodman's DEMOCRACY NOW!

For the sake of this argument, we can make you a man or a woman but we can't make you a Black woman because Black women didn't fall for it.

People in every other grouping did.

So you're Zac and you're 21 and in college and you tuned it to DEMOCRACY NOW! maybe once a week, maybe five days a week.  And you don't know Goody Whore's history of how she subverted past elections and how she lied and you don't know all the stunts she's pulled before -- including getting rich by bankrupting PACIFICA RADIO thanks to closet case Leslie Cagan (I believe Leslie's out as a lesbian, I'm referring to her being a Communist yet, at a PACIFICA board meeting refusing to admit that -- this was a PACIFICA board meeting -- not a McCarthy hearing).  You think she's smart and caring.

    So already, you're an idiot.

But you're watching her show and, from August 1st until October 30th, all you hear is guests and Amy telling you how bad Kamala is.  They usually talk up Jill Stein during this and, of course, Amy did that awful soft ball lying interview with Jill.

That was Jill's purpose and role in the 2024 election.

To be held up as something wonderful -- she's not, her own sons didn't vote for her and didn't want her to run -- as opposed to the awful Kamala.

That was to depress turnout -- intentionally.

And it was intentional on the part of Beggar Media from the start but they really dug in as it went along and Ava and I may cover that at THIRD.

So Zac wants to do the right thing, he wants to be a social justice warrior and make the world better.  He knows he's not voting for Trump.  He'd thought about voting for Kamala.

But day after day, DEMOCRACY NOW! (and THE PROGRESSIVE and IN THESE TIMES and THE NATION) are telling him how awful Kamala is?

Well he can't vote for that.

And this impacted Rosa.  She's got an office job that requires she work nine to five.  She's got three kids she's raising as a single mother -- so forget PTO.  That's gone just on her kids' doctors visits and illnesses.  Vote before work -- during early voting or regular voting?  She has to drop the kids off.  After work?  She's got to get to day care or risk paying a penalty for each minute after six o'clock that she's late.

Rosa really wants to keep Trump out of the White House.  But the radio programs and the online sites of various pathetic magazines tell her over and over that Kamala's awful.

So you really think Rosa is going to out of her way to try to vote?

    No.

This was Jill Stein's role.  And that's why these outlets never offered you the truth about Jill.  How she makes money every time a bomb drops on Gaza -- due to her stock portfolio.  How she's never accomplished anything.  How she is selective in her public outrage over what Arab is being bombed.  Her defense of Putin and other War Criminals.

They give her a pass on that and pretend like she's smart -- smart people don't lose every race for office they run for.  They pretend like she cares -- people who care don't raise over six million dollars for a 2016 recount only to not spend it on that.  They don't then say that they'll be donating the millions unused to a charity and then, years later, are still unable to tell you where that money went.

    She's a whore and she's a grifter.

And she was protected by Amy Goodman and others because her role was never to win or even to win some votes.  She was supposed to be the saint to Kamala's whore because dualities is all most Americans have been trained to handle -- the either/or.

Naomi Wolf is a joke.  But it's a real shame she couldn't have waited a few more years to become a joke.  Unlike non-feminist Naomi Klein, Naomi Wolf -- were her brain functioning -- could have done a blistering take down of the tropes used throughout as the left -- Beggar Media -- worked to destroy Kamala.  Naomi Klein is a politically active woman.  Too many people mistake that for feminism. It is not feminism and Naomi may have held a laughable chair but she never did anything for feminism.  And, in fact, there are interviews she hopes no one ever sees or remembers from before she became a brand where she was knocking feminism and feminists in that post-90s manner.

That was Jill's role, to destroy enthusiasm for Kamala's campaign in order to depress turnout.

And that's why you saw the never ending efforts to kill joy over Kamala's run.

Tabitha has spoken about the attempts to kill joy over and over on her YOUTUBE program.

You won't see her on DEMOCRACY NOW! or platformed elsewhere because no one wants to acknowledge the effort to kill Kamala's campaign on the part of the left.

But we can't move forward without an honest discussion of what went down.

And that's why Black women need to be front and center right now.

Everyone else fell for the propaganda to one degree or another.

If you're Anglo White or Anglo Latina and you didn't, great job.  But you were few and far between.

Black women didn't fall for it.

Black women are also a huge constituency for the Democratic Party.

Which is why is is so laughable and horrifying to watch these White men like James Carville and Howard Dean and others go around with their stupidity thinking we need to hear from them.

James Carville.  "It's the economy, stupid."  Famous for that as he backed Bill Clinton with the neoliberal campaign that was nothing more than a War On The Poor.

So James is back and saying this was an economy election.  And it was to a large degree.  He then wants to lie and attack various groups -- the Identity Politics rant that Roland Martin and others have rightly called out.

What did you do, James?  I know what I did.  I realized that the economy was going to be a loser for the Democrats and advocated at the start of 2023 for some form of stimulus.  And I was laughed at and had my head patted by various figures in the DNC party structure.

The economy is better.  Joe Biden deserves credit for saving the economy (that's not the only thing he deserves credit for).  But people weren't feeling it.

A number were remembering that trifle of a stimulus check they got under Trump.  Nancy Pelosi is still whining about Trump's signature on it.

And that has no bearing on anything.  She destroyed her own reputation on that issue.  There was no stimulus for those we called "heroes" during the pandemic.  Her House couldn't deliver.

And the prevailing opinion was that Trump wanted to do a second stimulus and Nancy opposed it.

James, you didn't do s**t on any of that and it got back to me that you were mocking me for suggesting this tiny stimulus check.

A check would have been appreciated.  A check could have made an impact on American's lives.

But James thought it was nonsense as did other fools.

So don't come to me now and whine about the economy stupid when, STUPID, you were among those who did nothing to mitigate the issue.

Perceptions are not changed overnight.  That's why you need to be smart in your demands at any time.

I didn't write here about it because I didn't want to give ammunition to the GOP.

Dems seemed to think that they could educate people on the economy.

You can't educate someone with statements that are contrary to what they experienced.

Yes, Joe saved the economy and those of us who know about the economy realize that.

    Most people don't know economics.

And so James' nonsense this week is bulls**t and he just needs to honestly die.  Die and take his lies with him.

He's outlived his purpose and he is no use.

People like him are also trying to blame trans people for the election.  I think we addressed Allred's nonsense in yesterday's snapshot.

LGBTQ NATION has a good article and maybe I'll try to write about it Saturday.

But, notice no links here, we are suffering.  And I've told everyone in the community -- whether they're writing for one of our newsletters or at their own site -- take time for you.

    We need to heal.

And so it's not really me throwing all my time away right now.  It's me trying to heal.

And that's what so many of us are trying to do right now.

You ignored us during the general election and you ignore us now.  If you continue to do so, you're going to have a huge problem because we are the base -- the real base -- the ones who show up election after election.

And we're busy.  We're all Rosa.  We all have eight million other things that have to be done -- HAVE TO BE DONE -- every day.  But we get out and vote every time.

And our thanks for that?  You destroy the first Black woman to run for president on a major party.

And you want to act like it didn't happen, you want to gaslight us.

    No.

I'm here to speak for me and the community.  And we'll chart our way forward as best we can based on what we're able to do.

And that's true for others.  Tabitha, Olay, Danielle, so many others.  They need to heal and they need to know where they stand in this party and how this party, in 2024, could do what they did to Kamala.

Some of your causes really aren't that important to us.

The nonsense of an official, for example.  That's something you worry about after you elect Kamala.  You say, hey, we support ____ and want her to remain.

Instead, you nut jobs came up daily with one reason after another not to vote for Kamala, one reason or another to attack her in public.

You didn't want to address her housing plan, you didn't want to address her Medicare plan and a number of you White bitches wrote articles attacking her over Black women's health issues.

She had never spoken of it!

She had never done this or that!

    White bitches, heel.

All you did was yet again sport your racism.

ESSENCE had the interview with Kamala addressing that topic.  But you're too White to read ESSENCE and that didn't surprise me which is why we reproduced that part of the interview in a snapshot here.

But, hey, in all your Whiteness why should you be required to actually do some work before you penned your columns claiming she never addressed a topic that she had just spoken to ESSENCE about.

You live in a really White world.  And that's how you ignore reality.

And you're doing it again with all these White idiots -- include Bernie Sanders on that list, Roland is right -- who keep having conversations with everyone but Black women.

Black don't crack.  We've all heard that.  Let me expand on it: Black don't crack cameras either.

So what's your excuse for still denying Black women a seat at the table while pretending to explore what went wrong in this election?

There are outlets that deserve praise and we've linked to them throughout the last months.  MOTHER JONES gets a B.  They played into some of the nonsense but not all of it.  Higher grades would go to THE NEW REPUBLIC and RAW STORY.  And my apologies to AMERICAN PROSPECT.  I didn't know they were still around.  Someone with TAP contacted me when I was first calling out THE NATION -- called me, we're friends -- and that's when I found out TAP was still around.  After that we did highlight them.  My apologies that we didn't highlight them more.  I would also give COMMON DREAMS an A.  They started out running with the pack.  They were the only ones we called out who actually course corrected.  I don't expect perfection, I do expect fairness.  So praise for COMMON DREAMS.
