Throughout history, most wars have been over money and resources.
They pretty it up but that's what it comes down to.
Now I'm going to share something in full because I believe it's the equivalent of a press release. I intend no violation of copyright by including it in full. I just think it's an important event and maybe one of the meet ups is in your area.
From WSWS:
Upcoming SEP/IYSSE public meetings
No to war in Syria!
11 April 2017
The Socialist Equality Party and the International Youth and Students for Social Equality are holding public meetings throughout the U S. Contact the SEP for information on setting up a meeting in your area.
With the launching of military strikes on Syria, the US is opening a new chapter in its bloody wars in the Middle East, which have left more than 1 million dead. The consequences of the direct targeting of the Syrian government are incalculable. How will Russia respond? The world could wake up some morning in the near future to the news that the two largest nuclear-armed powers in the world are at war.
There is no opposition to war from within the media and political establishment. Indeed, the Trump administration’s actions against Syria are in line with the demands of the Democratic Party, backed by the most powerful factions of the Pentagon and CIA.
As always, the US government justifies its actions by reference to allegations of atrocities carried out by whatever government is in its crosshairs. The media treats as established fact the claims that the Syrian government is responsible for the use of chemical weapons, while ignoring the horrific atrocities committed by the US throughout the Middle East.
What are the real motivations for the unending war drive? What are the geostrategic interests of the US in the Middle East? What will be the consequences? Above all, how can war be opposed?

There are people opposed to the war on Syria.
We aren't in the news or invited on to talk but that's the reality.
This is C.I.'s "Iraq snapshot" for Wednesday:
Wednesday, April 12, 2017. Chaos and violence continue, The Mosul Slog
continues, efforts to lie about Syria continue, and much more.
Welcome to day 176 of The Mosul Slog.
How are things going?
Not very well.
AP's astroturf can be found all over the net, "ISIS now in control of just 7 per cent of country, says Iraq."
They count on people having lousy math skills.
Just 7 percent of Iraq?
Now, just 7 percent?
I'm confused, when did ISIS control 100%?
Or even 50%?
In June of 2014, it's moment of greatest success, it controlled less than a third of Iraq.
In May of last year, REUTERS reported it controlled 14% of Iraq.
Since that May 11, 2016 publication?
May 19th, 2016, Rutbah was wrestled out of ISIS control, June 26, 2016 Falluja is cleared of ISIS.
All that before the Mosul operation started.
Three months after it started, they were bragging that the eastern half of Mosul was liberated.
7% remains under the control of the Islamic State.
That's appalling.
That's not a testament to success.
The headline should be "ISIS STILL CONTROLS AT LEAST 7% OF IRAQ!"
That's appalling.
That's before you factor in that the Iraqi forces are aided by, among others, the US, the UK, Iran, Australia and Canada.
And 7% of Iraq is still under the control of ISIS?
And it's day 176 of The Mosul Slog?

Around 73 killed and 200 wounded in last 3 days in Western #Mosul in Shelling by Iraqi and Coalition forces in different neighborhoods.
April 11, #CJTFOIR conducted 12 strikes consisting of 58 engagements against ISIS terrorists in Syria & Iraq. MORE: ow.ly/EYYQ30aNhPI
Patrick Martin (WSWS) notes:
A report by the British monitoring group Airwars has found that the death toll from US air strikes in Iraq and Syria nearly quadrupled in the month of March as compared to the last full month before Donald Trump entered the White House. Reported civilian deaths jumped from 465 in December 2016 to 1,754 in March 2017, a rise of 277 percent.
The report was issued in the midst of the media hysteria over fabricated charges of nerve gas attacks by the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad, the pretext for last week’s missile strikes ordered by President Trump. It demonstrates that American bombing has killed far more innocent civilians in Iraq, including children, than reportedly died in last week’s alleged chemical attack in Syria. For that very reason, the study has gone virtually without mention in the American media.
A war on Iraq began with lies from the US government. The same thing is happening with Syria.
Speak out and be smeared. THE HILL notes:
Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) has a message for the liberals attacking her criticism of President Trump’s missile strike on Syria, warning that a rush to aggression risks repeating the same mistakes that led the United States into the Iraq War.
“We need to learn from Iraq and Libya — wars that were propagated as necessary to relieve human suffering, but actually increased human suffering many times over,” she said in an email to The Hill.
Gabbard, a major in the Hawaii Army National Guard who served two tours in Iraq, has been highly critical of Trump’s decision last Thursday to launch 59 missiles at a Syrian airfield in response to a deadly chemical attack that killed scores of civilians, including children, in a western Syrian town days before.
Where are our brave voices?
Don't look to Rachel Maddow.
Despite her liars, Rachel never spoke out against the Iraq War. Before AIR AMERICA RADIO started, she had spoken on the radio in favor of the Iraq War.
She was teamed with terminal airhead Liz Winstead so people thought she was a big lefty. But Rachel wasn't a lefty. Rachel Maddow is about Rachel Maddow. People wonder how she can whore so on MSNBC.
Rachel lied to listeners of UNFILTERED. Liz quit the show when she found out they'd be off in a month and replaced by Jerry Springer.
Rachel not only didn't quit, she went on the air and day after day lied to listeners saying Liz was sick.
No, Liz quit.
The liars and whores can fool other people but not this community.
Elaine liked UNFILTERED -- for Liz -- and listened on her lunch.
When she grew tired of the show's inability to call out the Iraq War and when it offered yet another embarrassing "Ask A Vet" segment*, Elaine asked on the message boards why none of the veterans on the show were ever veterans opposed to the Iraq War.
Rachel had a meltdown on air.
Go to Rebecca's site, she documented it in real time. Elaine didn't even have a site then.
Rachel always protects herself. She doesn't give a damn about any issue.
And she's very right-wing. She hangs with a cabal of right-wing gays including the gay man who wrote that embarrassing TIME magazine cover story on Ann Coulter. Going on about how sexy she was.
Remember Rachel defending the story on air?
She did.
Remember her explaining she was friends with the right-winger who wrote it?
She didn't.
But he called her his "personal angel."
They're very tight.
Rachel's always lied to listeners and now she lies to viewers.
She's a dirty whore and she always will be.
She made that choice a long, long time ago.
People are pointing to an early poll and insisting it proves that America wants war on Syria.
The only thing it proves that whores like Rachel Maddow have done what their masters wanted them to.
Patrick Martin (WSWS) also noted:
While the American military subjected Syria to bombardment by dozens of Tomahawk cruise missiles, its most important ally, the US media, subjected the American population to its own bombardment—nonstop propaganda claiming that the Syrian government of President Bashar al-Assad is guilty of using nerve gas on its own population.
There has been no investigation on the ground to substantiate the claims by Syrian rebel groups, mainly affiliated with Al Qaeda, that 70 people died from the use of chemical weapons in the town of Khan Sheikhoun in Idlib province. Video footage and photographs, which are easily manipulated or faked, have served in the place of evidence.
They can control the media -- they did during the start of the Iraq War.
But we control the discourse, We The People.
And that polling is going to drop.
Because the truth is going to win.
They can ignore reality and refuse to broadcast it, but it will get out.
It's the FAKE Left that support neocon wars.
The fake left is all the likes of Rachel Maddow are and ever will be.
And please note, roll is being called.
Bernie Sanders And “The Resistance” Slink Away On Syria
And the world will remember.
I don't just mean history.
Tulsi and the others opposed to war on Syria are on the right side of history, yes.
But I mean in the near future, every single whore will be exposed.
They now have a pattern.
And one of the reasons today's millennials can't be sheepherded is because they grew up seeing the fake asses sell out on Iraq.
